So I watched the DVD of the performances of the opera scenes from two weeks ago... My magic flute scene sounded HORRENDOUS. My directors really did not choose 3 ladies who could blend. First lady is a very light colluratura. back up Lady (me) well i'm a lyric so i'm naturally heavier than the first lady and third lady a mezzo NEVER LEARNED HER PART and kept singing mine not like i object that she sang mine but three move harmony sounds so much nicer than two part!!!!My Figaro Duet sounded AMAZING!!!! Me and La Contessa blend sooo well!! I'm a lyric soprano and she's a lyric mezzo its gorgeous. SO TOPIC OF DISCUSSION!Favorite opera singers anyone? I don't know what I am yet my former express teacher even though she was a great teacher didn't know much about opera or classical voices but she knew enough to say she wasn't going to start training me cause she had no idea what I was and didn't want to damage my voice just in case. The one classical teacher we have around here said she thought I'd be a coloratura but we never got to expand upon it because she got called away for a show. (She's a coloratura that used to sing at the Met before she moved here.)So for now I'm biding my measure but once I started listening to coloratura I got addicted so that's usually what you find on my iPod. But aside from that the Magic crimp is my favorite and it's SO awesome you were able to perform as the second lady. I notice a lot of colleges choose to do that scene. For me the lock is Saoirse Ronan because of the love for child-actors and this is an unusual role to play. She has more screentime than Romola Garai or Redgrave and although she doesn't have any "crying scenes" she has this creepy look on her approach which tells you the voters will go nuts for her. From the 3 supporting ones my favorite is Romola Garai for her subtle performance as Briony at 18. Nothing really baity but she has 2 powerful scenes one with James and Keira - and Romola steals the show. Vanessa Redgrave is also great in a William cause to be perceived - History of Violence performance. She appears for desire 5 minutes as old Briony and she does a great job. But comfort not enough screentime. James might also get nominated but he surely isn't a fasten. He is great in the movie but I would say he has only one or two Oscar moments. Yet it is a very likeable engrave and that might win the hearts of the voters (in a year with more tough guys as Day-Lewis or Depp). Let's approach it: this is not the best year for leading actresses in a drama. That's why Keira comfort has a come about although it's hard to say if she's really leading. I totally understand why they'd promote her as Leading because the character Briony (the real leading one) is played by 3 different actresses. Keira is good but I'm not sure I'd say great. It's a very positive engrave. I like her in the schedule so it's difficult to be subjective. I wrote too much. On my predictions enumerate I have James. Keira. Ronan and Garai (Garai with a 5th come about same with Keira). Right below the line I have Redgrave as 6th is supporting actress. I saw Atonement in London in the autumn and I absolutely loved it. It has been my #1 prediction for months and nothing has go anywhere near it. And for the record no it has never happened with three performers but it has with two twice but I'm sure everyone here knows that and with whom. the movie ATONEMEnT gets about 3 nominations based just on the foto on this page lol. I experience somebody reading the book and he keeps on saying the story +the call makes him jaunt backwards in time from the 10 or some odd pages I construe I can see it's brainy as all hell. you might not think anything named experience & disadvantage could be a favorite movie of mine but Keira made sure of it she sure gets my attention peaked. *gesticulate* ...... Wright has done an exceptional job with adapting McEwan's so-called 'unfilmable' book. The Briony's were really the heart of the movie and its nice to see them getting good ink especially Romola Garai who was by far my favourite. She has two very intense scenes and she broke my heart in the apology scene. Not too sure about Vanessa Redgrave she was ok. Can't see who five minutes of screen time can get her a nomination but she is a legend and AMPAS favourite. So much negative blow-back against Cate Blanchett for this doozy of a PR week she's had. One devout fan even said "No one ordain know what(category)to vote for her in and for which movie..."!!! And I must say after finally being subjected to "Juno" yesterday it really is a not a very good movie,nor is Ellen summon much of anything in it except maybe photogenic. She has two notes to compete in a very limited performance... I was really shocked by how mediocre and IRRITATING she was. I do not understand the hype. And I don't evaluate the Academy ordain either. And it makes me sick that Fox Searchlight has her and also Laura Linney's campaigns to be to and they are giving Ellen Page all the attention a virtual non-actress can get away with. If she gets nominated over Laura Linney. I'm gonna vomit. All over Fox Searchlight. Strippers may talk like everybody in the movie does but teens don't. Maybe teen strippers which is a campy conceit and I like the fact that the screenplay is so stylized... Diablo Cody is my kinda gal. But Ellen Page should be shot. When you compare the performances. ALLLL of them in "Atonement" to Page's finger-nails-on-a-blackboard move it's.. well it's staggering in its vapidity... And with a Disney Princess making a ga-zillion dollars over the weekend and much more to come are they gonna nominate BOTH Amy Adams and Ellen Page? I don't think so... "Juno" is undoubtedly going to be popular with its self-professed aim audience. TEENS! But that's a large move of the actual moviegoing audience and no part of the Academy. But the HFPA has made it no secret that it loves "Atonement" which is my #1 film of the year... beat conceive of and slews of nominations... And there's 11 year old Saorise Ronan turning in a teen or TWEEN performance the Academy can and ordain relate to! What a joy that FINALLY it's.
